Global Energy Management (GEM) Program Celebrates Grand Opening of the GEM EnCana Suite

August 23, 2012

Last evening, nearly one-hundred energy professionals gathered for the official grand opening of the GEM Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. Suite located in the new CU Denver Business School building at 15th and Lawrence Streets in downtown Denver.

In attendance were members of the university and business school administration as well as local alumni, faculty, students and advisory council members of the Global Energy Management Program to celebrate this long-awaited event.  The suite was made possible through a generous one million dollar donation from EnCana.

Don McClure Vice President of Government & Stakeholder Relations & Legal at Encana proudly cut the ceremonial red ribbon officially opening the GEM offices for business.  He was joined by Dean Sueann Ambron, Business School and Col. John Turner, Executive Director, GEM Program.

The GEM Program is unique because it takes a hybrid-online approach to course delivery, allowing working professionals from across the world to take energy-focused graduate business courses.  The program has been highly successfully due in large part to its strong relationship with the energy industry.  GEM’s active advisory council consisting of energy industry executives, provides continual guidance to the development of the program and its curriculum. GEM began its first cohort in January 2009 and since that time has graduated five cohorts and is recruiting for its ninth cohort starting in January 2013. The deadline to apply for the January 2013 is December 1, 2012.   For more information on the program and how to apply go to: or call 303-315 8GEM (8436).
